Revision rhinoplasties that are performed again for reasons such as previous unsuccessful surgery, post-operative healing problems or exposure to trauma.
Revision surgeries are generally more challenging and demanding operations than primary (first rhinoplasty) ones.
As in all surgeries, there is a 7-10% chance of revision in rhinoplasty surgery. These revisions can be described as an operation group in which rib and ear cartilages or some soft tissue grafts are used, extending from local touches such as 5-minute filling applications to 5 hours.
Will it be a more difficult process than my first surgery?
Depending on the repair to be made, the difficulty of the process is very variable. In simple interventions, the post-operative process can be easily overcome, while in complex interventions, the process can be difficult for the patient.
Will there be more bruising and swelling?
Although it varies according to the intervention, swelling and bruising are high, especially in cases where wide dissection (surgical release) is required.
Will there be a lot of pain and scars in the areas where cartilage is taken?
There may be minimal pain with movement in the areas where the cartilage is removed. However, the pain will disappear with the painkillers we will give.
I usually use an incision of about 3-4 cm under the breast for the rib graft. For the ear graft, I take the pieces from the back of the ear with 2-3 cm incisions. In these regions, the scars remain in the form of lines and decrease considerably over time.
